The Bartlett Promise Sub-Saharan Africa Master’s Scholarship 2026 is a prestigious and highly competitive
fully funded scholarship offered by University College London (UCL) through
The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment.
This scholarship is designed to support outstanding students from Sub-Saharan Africa who face financial barriers
to studying a master’s degree in the United Kingdom.
The scholarship covers 100% of tuition fees, a generous annual living allowance,
international flight tickets, UK visa costs, and several other essential expenses.
Successful applicants will also benefit from academic mentoring and career development support
throughout their studies at UCL.

Number of Scholarships Available

- Up to three (3) Bartlett Promise Sub-Saharan Africa Master’s Scholarships

Due to the limited number of awards, early preparation and a strong application are essential.
Eligible Countries (Sub-Saharan Africa)
Applicants must be nationals and residents of one of the following countries:
Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde,
Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo,
Djibouti, Republic of Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea,
Eswatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau,
Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius,
Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe,
Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia (including Somaliland), South Africa,
South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Level of Study
This scholarship is available for:
- Postgraduate taught Master’s programmes
- Full-time study only
- Programmes starting in September 2026
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Bartlett Promise Sub-Saharan Africa Master’s Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a national and resident of an eligible Sub-Saharan African country
- Hold an offer of admission to a Bartlett master’s course at UCL
- Demonstrate financial need
- Show strong academic potential
- Explain personal circumstances and motivation clearly in the application
Important: You cannot apply for the scholarship without first receiving
an offer of admission to a Bartlett master’s programme.

Step 2: Apply for Admission to UCL

Only applicants who receive an offer (conditional or unconditional) are eligible
to apply for the scholarship.
Step 4: Apply for the Bartlett Promise Scholarship
Complete and submit the Bartlett Promise Sub-Saharan Africa Master’s Scholarship
application form.
